Florida State Opera is pleased to present Handel's Alcina. Performances will be Thursday, April 5 – Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. in Opperman Music Hall. (A pre-opera lecture will be offered in Lindsay Recital Hall one hour prior to each performance.)
ABOUT THE OPERA
Join as we visit Alcina’s magical island of illusions – a land where nothing is as it seems. The sorceress Alcina charms warrior knights into becoming her lovers with her magical powers, but transforms them into stone and animals when she tires of them. Her latest conquest is Ruggiero and this time she is truly in love. Ruggiero’s fiancée Bradamante comes in disguise to free her betrothed and break Alcina’s spell. Passion, magic, and true love – it must be opera!
