Land Conflict and Fires in Amazônia

The Center for Demography and Population Health and the Center for Global Engagement's Engage Your World Intercultural Dialogue Series present a talk by Professor Marta Azevedo of the University of Campinas, Brazil.

In her talk, Dr. Azevedo will discuss acceleration of fires and land dealings that have threatened indigenous territories and ecosystems in the Amazon in recent years. She sees opportunities for alliances between traditional/indigenous groups and Brazilian and international allies that can protect the region's social and biological diversity.

The lecture follows a reception from 4:30 to 5:00 pm.

Wednesday, January 22 at 4:30pm to 6:00pm
