The college is conducting a search to fill the Mildred and Claude Pepper Eminent Scholar Chair in Social Gerontology, formerly held by Professor Emerita Jill Quadagno. We currently have three scholars under consideration. Each will give a talk on campus.
The first of these is Anne Barrett, professor of sociology and director of the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy. Reflecting on two decades in the field, Barrett will propose a framework to guide future aging research. How can research widen the lens on age and aging and deepen the investigations of them?
Barrett is a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and recipient of a 2018-2019 Fulbright Senior Scholar Research Award. She has been conducting research at the University of Trento in Italy, examining the impact the country's population trend has on services to older adults.
