The city of Tallahassee’s FAMU Way Extension Project began in 2009 from Wahnish Way to Lake Bradford Road to not only meet the transportation needs of the community, but also create “the most beautiful roadway in Tallahassee.”
Years later, the city included historians in the project to preserve the legacy of the area in which this new throughway was being developed. Dr. Ellis was among the historians who worked with the city and will talk about the process of collecting information from area residents in order to capture the area’s history and tell the story of the people, places, and events that have helped shape the community.
