About this Event
Teams compete against each other to formulate the best competitive business strategy and orally present their recommendations to a three-to-four-person judging panel of accomplished entrepreneurs, STEM and business faculty, management consultants, and other outside disciplines (e.g., attorneys, CPA, licensed medical practitioners, etc.). Each student must formally present components of the strategy recommendation and respond to questions from the judges, defending their analyses and resultant recommendations made. At the conclusion of the strategy presentations, judges score the teams on their ability to logically decompose and address the key issues facing the company, creatively develop a sound and feasible strategy and implementation approach to solve the problems, ability to clearly articulate their recommendations including, value proposition and resulting benefits, and key implementation (next step) activities, including milestones, interdependencies and time frame to monetization. The team with the highest combined score (judge's totals) is deemed the winner of the spring entrepreneurial strategy formulation (Best Team Strategy) challenge and individual team members are each awarded a trophy designating their accomplishment. The event is hosted at a local restaurant in its business conference room offering students valuable experience working in a professional business environment in which to make their presentation. Lunch is provided for everyone involved.
