Description

The SQL workshop provides an introduction to relational databases and SQL. Topics covered:

  • basics of relational databases, including what a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) is
  • how to model a simple database, including the significance of keys and unique values in structuring tables
  • best practices, including avoiding composite keys, using consistent table naming conventions, and implementing arbitrary identifiers (surrogate keys)
  • introduction to SQL statements and simple table joins
  • how to continue learning about the concepts after the workshop
