Data @ Dirac: Introduction to HPC & the Slurm workload manager Presented by the RCC

This workshop will cover the basics of using the High Performance Computing cluster (HPC) to run computing jobs. It is a great introduction for users new to the HPC or those who wish to brush up on current best-practices and workflows for using the HPC at FSU. Specifically, this workshop will cover: how the HPC works, what the Slurm Scheduler is and how to use it, Slurm job submission and job management commands, and how to run compute jobs on the HPC.

Informative, but I would have liked to start at the beginning because I am still not sure how to use the ssh to connect to HPC. I was hoping to learn in one of the first slides about the interface (like PuTTY), then on the next slide how to connect to HPC via the interface (with a key?), and how to put your files in the correct path and/or direct HPC to the correct path. These are unanswered questions that I will study on the RCC website, but it would have been nice to have these in the workshop. Overall, kind instructor and informative workshop.
