About this Event
It’s no secret that America has become more polarized as different factions vie for political and public influence. This is also true on college campuses, including FSU. So, how do we talk to people who have very different views than ours?
Our past has shown we can overcome these differences, but it takes a unique set of skills to engage in the conversations that matter.
The Devoe L. Moore Center is currently accepting applications for two Pluralist Lab workshops taking place on FSU’s campus on February 22 or February 23, from 8:30am - 1:00pm. We would like to invite you to apply. Applicants can choose either date. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Our goal is to bring together a small group of students and academics with diverse perspectives to engage in substantive conversation on controversial topics such as immigration, poverty alleviation, and education reform while building skills for engaging each other with civility. During this event, you will engage with other students through a series of facilitated conversational exercises and group discussion sessions to better understand why someone may think differently from you. This knowledge and these insights become the foundation for building bridges rather than burning them down.
The application is open to current students. Students who complete this workshop will receive a $50 honorarium as a reflection of their valuable contribution and engagement. We are accepting applications through February 12. If this sounds like an opportunity that you, your friends, or other students might be interested in, I encourage you to apply or forward this invitation on to others.
