The symposium will take place on Friday, September 27th, 2019, and the book club will occur the following four Fridays, to “continue the conversation.” These events are sponsored by the FSU’s President’s Council on Diversity and Inclusion, The Office of the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, The Division of Student Affairs, The Graduate School, the College of Business, and The Congress of Graduate Students (COGS).

The Symposium Welcome will be given by President John Thrasher. Keynote speakers are Dr. Pamela McCauley, and Dr. James Frazier (see more information on DIRECTO’s website), and breakout and poster sessions will be facilitated by faculty, staff, students, and postdocs from FSU, TCC, FAMU, Valdosta State, and Auburn. In addition to the symposium, there will be an accompanying book group based on Transforming Understandings of Diversity in Higher Education: Demography, Democracy, and Discourse.
