EAP - International Scholar Writing Session

Feeling the Pressure to Write…in English?
Making regularly scheduled time throughout the semester is the way to be productive in starting and completing writing assignments, proposals, articles, theses, and dissertations. We are all under pressure to write, so why not write for a couple hours in a supportive space.

Please register online as space is limited:

What Each Session Offers
Community. Time. Space. And a little help. Each session offers: discussion, time to write, and 15-minute consultations with a writing instructor.

When you arrive at the session, you can sign up for a 15-minute consultation. First come, first served. For more about consultations, see below.

Each session begins with a discussion led by a faculty member. During this time we’ll share what we we’re working on, ask questions, and get answers. After the discussion, you can work on your writing assignment alone or with friends. If you’re doing a consultation, you can work on your writing until it’s your turn to meet with the instructor. The instructor will let you know when the session is about to end so that you can finish your work. You are also free to leave early, if needed.

What to Bring
Come with a writing project or assignment (e.g., short paper, homework, lab report, journal article summary, important e-mail, literature review, etc) and a reasonable goal that can be accomplished in 90 minutes. Bring whatever writing implements and materials you need (i.e., laptop, paper, notebooks, etc.). Feel free to bring something to drink, too.

Sessions will be held on selected Fridays from 10:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Center for Intensive English Studies (CIES) Conference Room or at Dirac Library Conference Room 216. See details and register online here:
