SYNERGY explores the intersection of the worlds of Black concert and commercial dance, illuminating how their fusion expands creative possibility and redefines the boundaries of performance.
Soualichi: One Island, Two Nations explores the choreographer’s St. Maarten heritage, highlighting the fading cultural history and the significance of salt. Featuring eight dancers and three drummers, the performance blends Afro-Caribbean contemporary dance with raw movements that reflect West African roots. Ultimately, “Soualichi ” underscores the importance of preserving cultural traditions for future generations.
D.R.O.N.E is a demonstration of the human body being more powerful than any weapon. This work calls in to question: What does it mean to be the embodiment of humanity and what does it mean to put your body between oppression and liberation?
