In the second installation of our series of FAR Fellows Research Nights, we are happy to host Chari Aresespacochaga and Sukanya Chakrabarti from the School of Theatre. They will both give informal showings of new works that they are developing during their time as FAR Fellows.Sukanya ChakrabartiSukanya will perform an excerpt from:‘And the rest – Re-membering stories of travel and migration’From Dr. Chakrabarti’s statement on the concept behind the play:The ideas of travel and migration are becoming increasingly immediate with a rapidly globalizing world. As national boundaries become porous, how do cultural, corporate and political policies and decisions affect travels, migration and familial relations? What I wish to explore through this project is the relationship and interaction among different forms – recorded interviews, devised performances, spontaneous conversations between strangers and co-travelers and also the re-performing of stories through repetition and recollection.Chari ArespacochagaThis event coincides with a working visit from Chari’s collaborator and the playwright, Annika Speer. Chari and Annika will present a reading of an excerpt from:WORK-IN-PROGRESS: MISSINGA new musical based loosely, really loosely, on the murder of JonBenet Ramsey.Chari Arespacochaga is a director for theater, film, multimedia, special events and concerts; and Assistant Professor in Performance at the School of Theatre. Chari continues to work on the development of theatre which tells new stories and experiments with new ways of telling them, consciously committed to diversity in casting and creative methodologies; and, translating these experiences into training practices for actors.FAR Fellows ProgramIn conjunction with the College of Fine Arts, FAR is encouraging collaborative relationships across the CFA by awarding FAR Fellowships to six faculty. A FAR Fellowship offers selected artists and scholars an opportunity to engage in collaborative experiments, develop or test new ideas, and engage in vital public dialogue from a home base at the Facility for Arts Research. The objective is to create an academically diverse and vibrant community that focuses on collaborative research and methods across a variety of disciplines and media. The fellows receive office space and access to the facilities at FAR and the College of Fine Arts provides a stipend for materials. For more information on the FAR Fellows program:artsresearch.fsu.edu/residencies/far-fellows/
