The FSU Opera summer double-bill features two works that examine differing perspectives on loss. The first half of the program features the U.S. premiere of Dr. Michael Williams’s The Prodigal Child. It explores the emotional turmoil of a young couple in the aftermath of losing an unborn child. The second half will be Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium which explores the life of a woman whose chosen vocation involves “connecting” the living with their dead relatives. She soon realizes that dabbling in the mystic arts has consequences.
Performances are May 25 & 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Opperman Music Hall. Tickets are $10 for all audiences, and are available through the College of Music Box Office: 645-7949.
