Guillermo Peñalosa is an internationally renowned city advisor and executive director of the non-profit organization 8-80 Cities. Peñalosa is also senior consultant for the renowned Danish firm Gehl Architects and is member of the Boards of Directors of American Trails, Ciclovias of the Americas, and City Parks Alliance.
As former Comissioner of Parks, Sports and Recreation in Bogotá, he and his team initiated the 121 kilometres-long «Ciclovia», a car-free Sundays event which sees the participation of over 1 million pedestrians and bikers. He also designed and successfully developed more than 200 parks, among them the 360-hectare Simón Bolívar Park.
In the last eight years, Peñalosa has worked in more than 180 cities along the six continents. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California’s Anderson School of Management.
In 2017 he was ranked #44 in Planetizen's Top 100 most influential urbanists.
