The college is conducting a search to fill the Mildred and Claude Pepper Eminent Scholar Chair in Social Gerontology, formerly held by Professor Emerita Jill Quadagno. We currently have three scholars under consideration. Each will give a talk on campus.

Madonna Harrington Meyer is a professor and former chair in the Department of Sociology at Syracuse University, New York. She is a senior research associate at the university's Center for Policy Research and a faculty affiliate with its Aging Studies Institute.

Her talk is based on interviews with 50 grandparents who care for children with disabilities and will look at what types of care they provide and how that carework impacts their finances, work and retirement, social lives, emotional well-being, and physical health.
