Did you know that students and faculty at FSU have access to a very powerful research compute cluster?
This workshop will cover the basics of using the High Performance Computing cluster (HPC) to run computing jobs. It is a great introduction for users new to the HPC or those who wish to brush up on current best-practices and workflows for using the HPC at FSU.
Specifically, this workshop will cover:
How to Prepare
This is an interactive, hands-on workshop. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop computer if you are able to so that you can follow along during the presentation.
Before the workshop begins, be sure that you have installed an SSH client on your computer. If you have a Mac or Linux computer, an SSH client is already built into the operating system. If you have a Windows computer, refer to our instructions for how to setup an SSH client.
If you want, you can sign-up for an RCC account on our website. However, this is not necessary. If you do not have an account already, we will provide you a temporary account to use on our system during the workshop.
Instructor
This workshop is led by Paul van der Mark, RCC Director. Dr. van der Mark has been at the HPC/RCC since 2007, and has extensive experience in high performance computing.
Location
The location of this workshop is Dirac Science Library Room 152 (map). NOTE: The entrance is located on the southeast corner of the building, across from the Oceanography building next to the parking garage. Use that entrance, not the main library entrance.
