FSU Libraries presents: Data @ Your Desk Workshop Series

Open OnDemand is an open-source HPC portal developed by Ohio Supercomputing Center. The goal of Open OnDemand is to provide an easy access to HPC resources without learning Linux or any related command line interface. All you need is a web browser to connect to HPC. Open OnDemand provides:

  • Plugin-free web experience.
  • Easy access to your files. Upload, download, view, and edit files within the same browser
  • Command-line shell access. If you need shell access, no need to use putty or any other software.
  • Job management and monitoring. Submit, cancel, and check status of jobs.
  • Run interactive jobs such as MATLAB, Jupyter notebook, and Visit within browser window.
  • Connect to a compute node to run a graphical desktop environments.

How to Prepare:

Before the workshop begins, be sure that you have installed an SSH client on your computer.  If you have a Mac or Linux computer, an SSH client is already built into the operating system.  If you have a Windows computer, refer to our instructions for how to setup an SSH client.

If you want, you can sign-up for an RCC account on our website. However, this is not necessary.  If you do not have an account already, we will provide you a temporary account to use on our system during the workshop.
