Hady Amr is an Associate Fellow with the Middle East and North Africa Program at Chatham House. He is also a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution's Center for Middle East Policy and an affiliate faculty member at George Mason University. He has decades of experience working on US–Middle East relations, Israeli–Palestinian affairs, and human development. He recently served as US Special Representative for Palestinian Affairs from 2022-2025 and was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs from 2021-2022. From 2013-2017, he served on Secretary of State John Kerry’s Israeli-Palestinian negotiation team, including as deputy special envoy for economics and Gaza. From 2010-2013, he was Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Middle East at USAID, overseeing major assistance programs across the region.
