COLLEGE OF MUSIC TO HOST 2023 JAVACYA MUSIC FEST
The FSU College of Music is delighted to welcome the Javacya Arts Conservatory Music Fest to Ruby Diamond Concert Hall on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 7:00PM.
Founded by FSU alumna Patrice Floyd, the Conservatory has operated in Tallahassee for more than 40 years. A community-based college preparatory music institute for students ages 3 to 18, Javacya exists to support professional classical Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in classical music through education and performance.
A diverse collaborative program, Tuesday’s Music Fest will include performances from FAMU DRS Youth Orchestras and Dance Company, the Southside Orchestra and Cultural Arts Program, the Florida Society Youth Orchestra, and guest vocalists Darryl Tookes and Mary Bush-Smith, accompanied by the Javacya Elite Chamber Orchestra and the Cairo High School Chorus.
Tickets for the performance range in price from $20-$75 and are available online at vtixonline.com. Proceeds from this concert will be used to provide scholarships, masterclasses, instruments, and private lessons for participating students of the Javacya Arts Conservatory.
