Public debates about education often claim to put children first, yet political pressures frequently distort policies in ways that undermine student outcomes. The FSU Institute for Governance and Civics Guest Speaker Series will host "No Adult Left Behind: How Politics Hijacks Education Policy and Hurts Kids" with political scientist Vladimir Kogan, who will examine how partisanship and interest groups shape education policy, often to the detriment of students and families. The lecture will explore key cases where policy has been captured by politics, the consequences for schools and children and how reforms might better align incentives to improve educational opportunity.
