FSU Opera is pleased to present Heinrich Marschner's Der Vampyr (The Vampire). Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Ruby Diamond Concert Hall on October 31, November 1, and November 2; a matinee performance will be presented at 3:00 p.m. on November 3. A pre-opera lecture will be presented one hour before each performance in WES 060.
A favorite of Richard Wagner, Heinrich Marschner's Der Vampyr tells the Gothic tale of an ancient vampire whose time on earth has ended. He is offered an extension of 1 year in exchange for turning 3 pure maidens in one night. FSU Opera brings this ghoulish Faustian tale to the more modern sensibilities of the 1990s with FSU’s students providing their haunting artistry to the orchestra and cast.
