"Social Justice in Cities: Planning for a More Equitable Future"
Doctoral and faculty researchers from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning will discuss multiple aspects of the urban planning process and how to consider and plan for greater equity in cities.
Professor Petra Doan will contribute her perspectives on her extensive work on queer spaces in cities using Ybor City, Tampa as an example.
Dr. April Jackson will explore ways to promote racial inclusion in community engagement processes in subsidized housing programs in Seattle.
Doctoral student Patrice Williams will offer insights into the impact of gentrification on sleep patterns of residents in the Atlanta Beltline Project region, and doctoral candidate Shaleen Miller will share her research on issues of equity and justice related to park access and quality in Tallahassee.
The panel will be moderated by Dr. William Butler, Associate Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.
This event is open to the public. Join us for a reception with refreshments at 5 p.m. The program will begin at 5:30 p.m.
