In this session, we will discuss some history of the digital humanities and humanities computing as it relates to the study of text. We will discuss some DH methods for modeling text, and how textual modelling and description is used in DH research. We will also go over some of the terminology that digital humanists use to talk about text and how to describe it. This session is a good theoretical introduction to the concepts that will be covered in the “Introduction to Text Encoding” session.
