Another in a series of webinars featuring research on civic engagement funded by the Institute of Politics (IOP@FSU).

As the COVID-19 variant continues to spread with unprecedented pace and effects, particularly among young people, will college students heed the call to wear protective masks? A study underway at the FSU College of Communication and Information seeks to understand the impact of social media efforts on civic engagement among university students and how that communication occurs during times of crisis. Civic engagement is linked to adherence to public health recommendations, particularly when such recommendations are so closely associated with political positions.

The webinar is presented by researchers Associate Professor of Communication Patrick Merle, director of the School of Communication within the FSU College of Communication and Information, and Assistant Professor of Communication Jessica Wendorf Muhamad, associate director of the Center for Hispanic Communication.
