https://coss.fsu.edu/criJoin us on Monday, January 8, at 12 pm in the College of Medicine’s Atrium for an art and healing exhibition presented by the Civil Rights Institute to kick off Racism Awareness Week.
FSU College of Medicine presents Racism Awareness Week to educate the community on the impact of racism on healthcare delivery and to highlight the significance of health equity. This year's theme is Artistic Advocacy, an exploration that unveils the intricate impact of racism on healthcare delivery to illuminate these nuanced effects through the realms of art and dialogue, setting the stage for a collective journey towards health equity.
Enchant your senses with treats from Panera, soulful melodies, poetry, and engaging activities that invite introspection and laughter.
The event features art by FSU's newly appointed Director of the Civil Rights Institute, Ted Ellis, who is also a distinguished artist. Mr. Ellis will have several pieces from "The Art of Healing Series" on display. The exhibition features 13 original works of art highlighting African Americans and people of color working in the medical profession who have promoted a sense of equity and comfort of care for all.
